LP9000 and HP StorageWorks 16/2

I've got an HP StorageWorks 16/2 SAM Switch with one port plugged into a Dell (sorry) 1750 that has an Emulex LP9000. Has anyone had any experience with this HBA?

The switch says no_light, and the HBA says link down. I'm fairly new at fibre channel, but I can't figure this out. I've tried two different HBA's, three different strands of fiber... Anyone have any ideas?

TIA!

What's the OS?
Ensure that you're running the HP driver for the emulex cards (and the firmware) as it sounds like you might be using a native emulex card. HP use the LP952 but I've had success with the LP9000 in the past

I'm working on something similar at the moment... I've got a DL380G3 (w2k) with Emulex LP8000, this is connected to a Compaq SAN Switch 16 (fabric OS 2.1.7)...

Initially the SAN switch was reporting NO_LIGHT and the HBA said link down, I have done a bit of research and found that the Win2k driver that comes on the CD does not support fabric login and can only do Arbitrated loop. Fair enough, I got a new driver from Emulex which did support FC login (this required a firmware flash of the LP8k), now the switch reports the following errors when the HBA tries to attach:

Oct 14 10:40:52.049 port 9: FLOGI 0x021900 cos=0xc bb_credit=64 df_size=2048 cf=0x8000
Oct 14 10:40:52.116 port 9: PLOGI s_id=0x21900 d_id=0xfffffc cos=0xc df_size=2048

I have no idea what these mean (failed login, port login maybe? I'm trying to find a manual)

If anyone else can help from this point I really need to get this going...

FLOGI = Fabric LOGIn. It means, for example, that the node port has received a fibre channel address (0x021900). You put the device on port 9, right?

Yep, the device is on port 9... The thing is that the zoneing is correctly setup etc. but I still don't see anything on the fc -hbanywhere reports:

Port FC ID: 21900
Port type: Fabric
Port State: Link Down

Any ideas what may be causing this?
