Compaq 4300 Disk Enclosure Replace EMU with Single I/O module

I have a Compaq 4300 Ultra3 Disk inclosure and I was told that I could replace the EMU module with a Signle SCSI port I/O module. Is this able to be done?

No. If you look at the back of the box, the EMU (Environmental Monitor Unit) is at the left side. The I/O module sticks at the right side.

There are two models of the M4300 series disk drive enclosures:
- M4314 with a single bus I/O module
- M4354 with a dual bus I/O module

You can, however, safely turning an M4314 into an M4354 or a M4354 into an M4314 just by swapping the I/O module, if that was your question.
