HP6000 SCSI SX-W Tower (C3550TW) specifications request
Is it possible to manage one of these towers from a Intel x86 (PIII) workstation (OS Win NT4 SP4) using a single-ended Adaptec 2940UW SCSI controler or do I need a differential controler?
The tower model number is C3550TW OPT STD and the drives inside are model numbers C3554UW OPT STD, C5261UW OPT STD, C5261UW OPT STD, and C5266UW OPT STD. Also where can I find more info on these hardware items? (I tried the HP web site search, but nothing showed up)
TIA,
Alex
P.S. I hope that this question is not going to show multiple times, but I was having a problem posting the question when using Netscape 4.06 and now I am trying with MSExplorer 5...

Re: HP6000 SCSI SX-W Tower (C3550TW) specifications request
Hello Alex,
The drives that you posted look like they are all Fast/Wide/Differential SCSI drives in a 6000-series tower. Yes, they can be connected to a host via a Fast/Wide/Differential SCSI bus. However, the firmware on the imbedded SCSI controller of each of these drives is tuned for the HPUX operating system, not Windows version 'anything'.
I know someone who did it anyway. He said it worked ..... but every so often it would 'Blue Screen'. I take it to mean that he did not have any long-term success with WinNT and 6000-series disk drives.
Good Luck,
Curt
