Want to reduce number of PATH on server, live...

Hi all,

I have a 2 superdome in cluster that use a Symmetrix array. I have 10 HBA on each SD that share 10 ports on my Symmetrix.

The server running HP-UX 11i and use VxVM 3.2 for cluster storage and 1 local rootdg. OS still in LVM. Also have PowerPath installed and running under the Veritas DMP.

Now I want to reduce this 10 path per device to 4 path per device on each SD. I want to do it without downtime.

My concern is mostly DMP. On LVM side, I just need to take care of not removing the PATH use in the volume group. I don't have a lot of deep experience on VxVM/DMP. But a lot on LVM/PowerPath/PVLink.

Thanks for all your advice on that.

Sebastien,

Are you looking at doing a vgreduce?

vgreduce /dev/vgnn /dev/dsk/c20t1d0
