USB/PS2 어댑터 관련

Server(rx1620) ---> USB/PS2 어댑터 ---> KVM(HP 제품 아님)



Rack에는 rx1620 장비 2대가 있으며 위와 같이 연결을 해서 사용을 하고 있는데 여기서 잘 되지 않는 것이 있습니다.

기존에는 KVM를 이용해서 다이렉트로 Server에 키보드,마우스,모니터를 연결하면은 잘 되는데 USB/PS2 어댑터를 중간(Server와 KVM중간) 에 연결해서 부팅을 하면은 키보드,모니터는 잘 동작을 하는데 마우스가 되지 않습니다. 그래서 CDE 기동후에 USB/PS2 어댑터를 연결 하면은 또 잘 됩니다.



여러 사람들한테 물어 보니깐 USB 드라이브만 올라와 있으면 아무런 설정을 해주지 않아도 된다는데 이게 장비의 문제인지 모르겠네요.

그리고 제가 아래와 같은 문서를 찾았는데 어떻게 하라는 건지 잘 몰라서요..



The most recent KVM switches provide an interface adapter to convert between the standard switch cable, which is a CAT5 twisted pair cable, to either the USB or PS2 standard keyboard and mouse connections and the VGA video connection. These interface adapters use the power provided on the USB connections as an indication of whether the port is active or not.



At boot time of the system, initially the EFI interface is enabled

which powers the IO ports used for KVM attachment so that the EFI menu can be seen and accessed appropriately. But, when Windows 2003 64-bit edition is selected as the operating system to boot, there is a point where the operation of the system is transferred from EFI to the operating system, at which time the USB port is powered off until the relevant USB driver is started in Windows. During this time, because power is disabled to the USB port, the KVM switch assumes that the port is inactive and blanks the video signal which is when the Windows 2003 splash screen is displayed.



Once the USB driver is again loaded, then the KVM switch recognizes the port as active and re-enables the transfer of video signals to the physical console, and the normal Windows display is again visible.



It is possible to monitor the system boot activity via the Management

Processor port's console command (CO) which will display:



A. an initial set of "******" characters being written to the

screen with the message "Starting Windows",



B. the Windows Special Administration Console (SAC) command

prompt shortly after, from which the boot can be monitored

using "t" or "d" commands for task list or driver load

messages respectively,



C. the Virtual Front Panel (VFP) to show the current status

of the system as it passes power on self test (POST) and

then progresses to boot,



D. and the use of debug messages provided via the Windows

SOS boot menu option if configured.



One of the following work arounds may be employed if required:



1. An older technology KVM switch may be used which does

not have the "interface adapter" but instead requires

a PS2 to USB converter.



NOTE: This solution appears to work but has an issue

on reboot where the mouse would appear as a Human

Interface Device, which would need to be deleted and

re-scanned to operate correctly.



2. A powered USB hub may be used to sit between the system

and the KVM interface adapter to ensure that power is

never physically removed from the USB port, thus ensuring

that the KVM switch always considers the port as active.



The latter solution is the preferred approach if this issue is signif-icant and if the other mechanisms for monitoring the system boot are inadequate for your needs.

USB-PS2 변환 장치의 호환성문제인것 같습니다.



HP의 경우 제품을 잘 고르셔야 합니다.



일반 저가형의 경우 잘 지원하지 않습니다.



용산에 가시면 SUN지원이라고 되어 있는 제품중에 비교적 크기가 큰 제품이 있을것입니다. (중간에 회로들어있는 부분이 비교적 큰것)



님의 경우 SUN 지원이라고 되어 있는 제품을 구매하신것 같은데 조금 더 비싼 제품을 사시면 될듯 합니다.
