Re: 3PAR 7200 factory reset. (data wipe)
Yes, of course.
NOTE: If you plan to reinstall using the existing license, record the license before completing this uninstall procedure.
Use the following commands to record the existing license:showlicense and showlicense -raw.
This section provides instructions for uninstalling a system.
1. Connect the laptop to the highest numbered controller node with a serial cable.
2. Using a terminal emulator program like Putty, set the following settings for your maintenance laptop console.
3. Log in to the node as the console user.
login: console
Password: <password>
4. From the console menu, enter 8 to select Perform a deinstallation.
1. Out Of The Box Procedure
2. Re-enter network configuration
3. Update the CBIOS
4. Enable or disable CLI error injections
5. Perform a Node-to-Node rescue
6. Set up the system to wipe and rerun ootb
7. Cancel a wipe
8. Perform a deinstallation
9. Update the system for recently added hardware (admithw)
10. Check system health (checkhealth)
11. Load network configuration
5. A warning message appears to indicate that all data on this system will be lost.
Enter y to begin the deinstallation process, and the system reboots.
WARNING: Running this script will result in the complete loss of data on this system.
Are you sure you want to continue? (y/n) y
Deinstallation process will be started in 10 seconds.
deinstall_finish.
6. After the system reboots, log on as the console user.
login: console
Password: <password>
7. From the console menu, enter 8 to select the Perform a deinstallation.
8. At this point, all chunklets in the system will be initialized to clear volume data.
This is estimated to take about one to two hours, depending on the capacity of the drives in the system.
Enter y to begin the deinstallation process to reboot the system.
NOTE: The time required for all chunklet re-initializations during deinstallation depends on the type, size, and number of disks.
The estimate of 71 minutes below is an example.
NOTE: If you do not wait for the chunklets to be initialized, data still resides on the disks but cannot be easily accessed.
When the chunklets are initialized, zeros are written over the existing data.

Re: 3PAR 7200 factory reset. (data wipe)
Hello,
I have 3PAR (M6710) with 7200 controller. I purchased it secondhand from the auction for perosnal development purpouses.
WebGUI - not accesable, SSH or Console requires username & passowrd, which I tried all the official options:
3paradm/3pardata
Setupusr/ <blank>
root/ <blank>
Spvar/3V#rpar
3parcust/3parInServ
console/cmp43pd
admin/admin
console/!manage
Following your guidleines I can access the console menu for OOTB option.
Please advice how can I hard wipe the device to factory settings or how to bypass console password.
My 7200 have OS 3.2.2.612

Re: 3PAR 7200 factory reset. (data wipe)
Hello,
the 7200 has no local Web GUI, the Web GUI is provided by the SSMC Appliance VM.
If you can enter the OOTB, the System should already be wiped.

Re: 3PAR 7200 factory reset. (data wipe)
No that’s the problem I can’t get in to the OS.
I have access to SSH and to console, however both require user name and password, which I don’t know.
I tried all officially known username and passwords, don’t work!
Thanks

Re: 3PAR 7200 factory reset. (data wipe)
If the system is factory reset, you connect it with the 3PAR serial cable and use the console/cmp43pd.
This should display the menu above.
If the password is not working, the System still has an encrypted root Password set.
In that case, you have to open a Support Case, and HPE can generate a Time-Based root Password for you.
Explain the need, and you get the Password, even with no support.
Be sure to save the License before wiping.
