3PAR 7400 Need Virtual Volum recovery
Hello everyone,
We have two HP 3PAR 7400s, unfortunately their were compromised by a hacker and their virtual volumes (VVols) were deleted. We need to restore the virtual volumes in a way that don't lose any hope of completely losing the data.
1) Please guide me, what steps should I take in this regard? Is there any formal steps/manual for VVol recovery in this situation?
2) Can we restore or rebuild the VVols in such a way that the Chunklets don't change?
Kind regards
Shaahin

Re: 3PAR 7400 Need Virtual Volum recovery
Hi Shaahin_fp,
Please can you confirm that you have the backup and replication of your data?
If you have replication, you can access your data using the DR site. If your DR site is also compromised by hackers, you can recover your data from backup.
Hope this helps.!

Satish

Re: 3PAR 7400 Need Virtual Volum recovery
Hope you are doing well.
Unfortunately the client 'NAKA Petroleum" have two 3PAR 7400, which use one
of them as mirror or backup. they don't have physical backup like tape. The
Attacker compromised their network and changed the system's Admin password.
With the help of HPE support chargeable service, we managed to change the
admin passwords. so now we have full access to the systems console.
The hacker deleted the virtual volumes. Please kindly let me know the
following (I know the recovery is not certain at this situation) :
1) What steps should I take in this regard? Are there any formal
steps/manual for VVol recovery for this situation?
2) Can we restore or rebuild the VVols in such a way that the Chunklets
don't changes?
3) How can HP engineers help me? Of course, the service fee will be paid.
4) Is there anything (preliminary steps) I need to do before the HP
engineer wants to connect to the system to recover the VVols?
5) If the HPE service policy is not to intervene with data recovery, do you
know any person or company that can advise us on this matter?
Thank you in advance
Kind regards
Shaahin

Re: 3PAR 7400 Need Virtual Volum recovery
Hi Shaahin,
Once the volume/data deleted, we cannot recover them normally and HPE support cannot help here. Still, you can reach to the HPE country team for any options.
