Re: 3par failed capacity
Hello @owahid,
The failed capacity (1gb) is I think due to a failed chunklet. That will be automatically fixed. Nothing much to be concerned about.

Re: 3par failed capacity
Hello. On the HPE 3PAR 8K series, and 7K, 10K, 9K, 20K series, physical drives (PD) are 'chopped up' into 1 GiB "chunklets". If a chunklet goes bad, it is marked as failed, and a spare chunklet, preferably on the same PD, is put into service.
I believe the count is six(?) failed chunklets on a given PD before that PD is considered failing. The array takes proactive measures to move all in-use chunklets' data on that PD elsewhere in the array so the PD can be replaced.
FYI:
Customer Notice a00111060, - (Revision) HPE 3PAR 8000 Storage Systems - End-of-Life Announcement, has been released.
Find the document at: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-a00111060en_us
"HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Storage systems will enter into the End-of-Life (EOL) period starting February 15, 2021. As a result, HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Storage systems will be offered by Hewlett Packard Enterprise until August 31, 2021 (subject to inventory availability). HPE Pointnext Technology Services will support HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Storage hardware and software until the end of engineering support. For government or contractually obligated entities, these products may be subject to different milestone dates. The term, "HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Storage" refers to the whole 8000 family, which includes all the 8000 models (82xx and 84xx).
"HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Storage customers (8200, 8400, 8440, and 8450) are strongly recommended to upgrade to either HPE Nimble Storage or HPE Primera. These new workload-optimized systems have been designed to support mid-range and high-end application requirements. HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Storage customers have a seamless upgrade path to HPE Nimble and HPE Primera. More information can be found by contacting your local HPE sales representative."
While we've passed the date where you could buy another, HPE Support on 3PAR StoreServ 8000 Storage Hardware and Software is available until at least 31-Aug-2026 .
Perhaps time for a little window shopping? Take a look at the HPE Nimble Storage and HPE Primera? Start planning now, before Support EOL, rather than after? Which, sadly, I've seen a few customers do on other storage equipment....

Re: 3par failed capacity
The 3PAR would have done that automatically. That's what spare chunklets are for. Until the failed count starts growing, nothing to worry about.
