3par for homelab

Guys,

Work is decomissioning tons of 3par storage, a quick poke around shows HP 3par 7400 with dual controllers and tons of drive shelves.

I could take them all home, but is it worth it to play around with? Can the drive shelves be used as JBOD? I have next to no knowledge on these. The disks have been scrapped, but the drive caddies are around.

Appreciate the advice

Hi Gutta,

You can use the drive cages as JBODs with appropriate HBAs.

Hello @gutta,

Yes. You can use those JBODs with any other used drives as well. Most of the drives are compatible with 3PAR.

Here is the drive compatibility matrix for your reference - https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/c04895553
