3PAR StoreServ Free Node Disk Space Low

Hello,

Last year, I received an alert about the subject above.  HPE Support was able to resolve the issue by logging in via SSH and running some commands to prune some unnecessary files.

Here is the alert I received:

----------------------------------------------

Would anyone happen to have a script for removing these files, or the commands to do this?  I'm trying to avoid the charges for an out-of-warranty StoreServ, if possible, and if it's simple enough.

Thanks for your replies..!

Re: 3PAR StoreServ Free Node Disk Space Low

Hello @BPSITSupport,

What is the 3PAR OS version running on your 3PAR 7200?

As I recall my experience with this issue, the alert is not only due to some data occupying space on the node. In the older versions of 3PAR OS, checkhealth warning threshold for free node disk space alerts was set over 80% full (that is OS hardcoded level, we can't change). In later versions, the threshold level was increased and the occurrence of such alerts reduced drastically.

Re: 3PAR StoreServ Free Node Disk Space Low

You need root access to delete these files and the root password is only known by HPE.

As far as I know, the Password is dedicated to your System Serial Number, so there is nothing to share.

You have to create a Case, I hope they may help you also without Support.

Sorry, Cali

Re: 3PAR StoreServ Free Node Disk Space Low

Hello @BPSITSupport,

I completely agree with @Cali.

To resolve this, you need root password. Only HPE support can assist with that. Please contact and check how can they make an exception for out-of-support systems. They have to generate a unique one-time password by entering the serial number.

Please refer to this article as well - https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=kc0121014en_us&docLocale=en_US

So, your options will be:
1. If the 3PAR OS is older than 3.1.3, correlate to the article and ignore the error assuming that it may be only due to lower threshold level of node free space. Hope that the node free space will not hit the danger level to cause further issue.

2. Again if the 3PAR OS is older than 3.1.3, you can upgrade to later version. I recommend 3.2.2MU6 which is the best version for 3PAR 7000. You can contact HPE support (that will be paid service) or if you have any options to do it yourself or by any 3rd party service provider (based on availability and luck)

3. Contact HPE support, request for an exception and try to get the issue resolved.

OS upgrade by HPE support is the best option.
