Add a new disk to the system
Hi. We have 3par-7200.
We bought 24 (12 FC and 12 NL) disks and licenses. Now I want to add disk to the system. I added licenses. Then try to insert disk and get error:
3par-7200 cli% showpd -s
Id CagePos Type -State-- -------------------------------Detailed_State--------------------------------

When I try to implement admithw:
Upgrading pd with wwn 5000C50084688E6C
Upgrade of PD 5000CCA05B346147 failed:

2016-04-21 11:12:06 MSK Error Task exited with status 1
2016-04-21 11:12:06 MSK Failed Could not complete task.
Should I upload a new firmware to the system? How to do this? Can I install disks without firmware upgrade?

This usually means the array firmware is too old to support the new drive, this drive model is not known to the array.
You need a current version of firmware for your 3PAR.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

What OS version?

Do you get the same error for all 24 PDs? What does "showpd -i" show for all those PDs?

Re: Add a new disk to the system
Serg,
We would need to know your current Inform OS version and the model of drive you are attempting to install. Many times what happens is there is a need for new drive firmware to support drives and that drive code is included with later Inform OC versions or patches.
Code can be upgraded online but at this point you should be contacting support as they can provide you assistance in all of this so you are not walking through it alone.
