I am looking at 3.3.2 and can't find what is the difference between MU1 and EMU1. Anyone know, or have a link to the explaination.

Re: Difference between 3.3.2 MU1 and 3.3.2 EMU1
Hello Satsh04,
Thanks for the suggestion. I read the release notes and didn't find the answer to my question. I didn't write it well the first time.
What I am seeking is more a question of is the MU focused on different features than the EMU? Are the targeted for different workloads?
The release notes have me favoring the EMU over MU. I am asking as I don't want to upgrade, find out it is the wrong path, downgrade and reupgrade.

Re: Difference between 3.3.2 MU1 and 3.3.2 EMU1
Hi jimk515,
It depends on several factors whether to apply MU or EMU updates, and HPE usually provides guidance based on your specific use case, configuration, and any known issues addressed by updates.
In general, MUs are larger updates that may include numerous changes. In addition to introducing new features, addressing specific issues, and optimizing performance, they may also address specific performance bottlenecks.
It is common for EMUs to be smaller updates that focus on fixing specific bugs and ensuring stability. If you are looking for stability and issue resolution rather than the latest features, these might be a good choice for you.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Satish

SolutionHi Jim,
It indicates the lifecycle of the release:
GA = General Availability - Initial release
MU = Maintenance Update - Subsequent rollup releases containing new features, as well as all prior patches
EGA = Extended General Availability
EMU = Extended Maintenance Update
The EGA and EMU are extended releases where there are important patches rolled in but no change to the base code version.
The release notes for 3.3.2 EMU1 appear to be incomplete, however we can use the OS Versions table of the Storeserv Upgrade Matrix on SPOCK to give some indication as to the nature of the EMU:
3.3.2 EMU1 is 3.3.2 MU1 + Patch 10 (which HPE haven't provided release notes for). Unless support indicate otherwise, you would go for the EMU over the MU.
Cheers,
Andy
