Do I need to set 3PAR host port to "loop" to direct connect a server to the 3PAR?
We have been direct-connecting Linux servers to 3PAR Host Ports for some time. The other day we found an entry in the W2K12 Implementation Guide that said if we direct-connect a Windows Server to the HP 3PAR, we must set the Host Ports to "loop", i.e.:
# controlport offline 1:5:1
# controlport config host -ct loop 1:5:1
# controlport rst 1:5:1
You can see settings ("loop" or "point") with command:
# showport -par
So, the question is: Is this really true? Do I have to really set the Host Port to Loop? Why for W2K12 and not for Linux?
