Re: Hoe to read Insplore logs

Hi Cloudcover,

To read InSplore logs from an HPE 3PAR StoreServ storage system, you can follow the below steps:

Log in to the HPE 3PAR StoreServ Command Line Interface (CLI) using an SSH client or access the system through the HPE 3PAR Management Console (IMC).

Run the command "showeventlog" to check the event logs in the HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage. This command retrieves the event logs specifically.

The output will display the event logs, including information about system events, errors, and activities.
You can review the logs to analyze system behavior, identify potential issues, and gather information for troubleshooting purposes.

If needed, you can filter the logs by specifying additional parameters in the "showeventlog" command.
For example, you can filter by date, severity level, or specific event types.

Please refer to the below URL for HPE 3PAR StoreServ Command Line Interface.

Re: Hoe to read Insplore logs

Hi Satish04

Thank you for your reply but does the event logs only shows errors or it can also show the parts to be replace?

Can we still use the insplore logs for the 3par 8200 to troubleshoot issues and get the part number?

Your assistance on this is very much appreciated

Thank you

Re: Hoe to read Insplore logs

Hi Cloudcover,

To generate the InSplore logs, follow the below steps:

Using HPE 3PAR Service Console::
==================================

1. login to the HPE 3PAR Service Console using IP address.
2. Go to the main menu, and select the HPE 3PAR system.
3. Go to the "Actions" menu, and select "Collect Support Data" from dropdown.
4. Check the "InSplore data" and make sure you have selected all data.
5. Click "Collect".
6. Go to main menu again, and select "Files" under General.
7. Check "Collection(INSPLORE) from "All" dropdown.
8. Select the log that you want to download.
9. Go to "Actions" menu, and click "Download" from dropdown.

Using HPE SSMC::
================

1. Login to the HPE SSMC.
2. Go to the main menu.
3. Select Systems under "STORAGE SYSTEMS".
4. Go to "All Systems" at top right corner and select the system that you want to download event logs.
5. Go to the "Actions" menu, select "Download Eventlog" from dropdown.
6. The event log file will be downloaded and saved in the browser’s default download location.

You will check the eventlogs using CLI, as i mentione my previous reply.

Based on the logs you collected, you find the all hardware and software details of your HPE 3PAR system.

Please refer to the below URL for HPE 3PAR hardware and software compatibility metrics.

Re: Hoe to read Insplore logs

Hi Cloudcover,

Based on the information provided, it appears that the I/O module in Cage 0 of your HPE 3PAR system is experiencing some issues.
The error message indicates that cage 0 is connected through only one IO module, and there is also a temperature sensor degraded in cage 0.

To resolve this issue, it is recommended to replace the faulty IO module. This will ensure proper connectivity and functioning of the cage.
The spare part number provided (756484-001) is likely the replacement IO module that you need.

It is important to follow the recommended IO module replacement procedures provided by HPE for the specific HPE 3PAR model.

Hope this helps.

Satish

Re: Hoe to read Insplore logs

@Satish04 Yes it does but are there any procedures that we need to follow before and after replacement? or the node and i/o module are hot swap

Thank you Satish, you are really a BIG help

Re: Hoe to read Insplore logs

Hi Cloudcover,

Before performing a node or I/O module replacement in an HPE 3PAR storage system, it is essential to follow certain procedures to ensure a smooth and safe process.

Here are some general steps to consider before and after the replacement:

Before Replacement:
1. Ensure you have a recent backup of your data to avoid potential data loss during the replacement process.

2. Verify that the HPE 3PAR system is functioning correctly and there are no other critical issues affecting the performance of the system.

3. Use appropriate monitoring and diagnostic tools to identify the specific node or I/O module that needs replacement.

4. Ensure you have the replacement node or I/O module on hand and ready for installation.

During Replacement:
1. If required, gracefully shut down the affected node or I/O module following the manufacturer's guidelines.

2. Physically swap the faulty node or I/O module with the new one.

3. Power on the new node or I/O module and verify that it starts up correctly.

4. After the replacement, closely monitor the system's health to ensure the new component is functioning correctly and there are no issues.

After Replacement:
1. Confirm that the HPE 3PAR system is operating as expected and that all nodes and I/O modules are working correctly.

2. Run diagnostic tests to ensure the overall health and performance of the storage system.

3. If necessary, update the firmware and software of the newly installed node or I/O module to the latest supported version.

4. Validate data access and functionality to ensure that your applications can access the storage and perform as expected.

It is always recommended to contact HPE Tech support for guidance tailored to your specific setup.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Satish
