Hi
I want to check how to stop Alletra 9060 storage with a command.
Will the system stop normally just by executing the shutdownsys halt command?
If so, what should I check to determine that it has stopped normally?
Is it okay to turn off the power when the string "SMI Whack>" appears on the prompt?
Regards,

Re: How to halt Alletra9000 series
Hi hkane,
It is possible to stop HPE Alletra 9000 with "shutdownsys halt", but you should follow a proper shutdown procedure to ensure data integrity.
Below are the steps to shutdown the storage system prperly:
Run the command "shutdownsys halt" - Specifies that the system should be halted after shutdown. If this subcommand is not specified, the reboot or restart subcommand must be used.
You can verify that the system has shut down normally by checking the following:
The CLI should display the SMI Whack> prompt, indicating that the system has entered a low-level service mode.
The front panel LEDs should indicate that the system is powered off or is ready to be powered off.
If connected to a management interface, make sure the system cannot be accessed via SSH or web interface.
It is generally safe to turn off the power once the SMI Whack> prompt appears.
After issuing the shutdownsys halt command, wait at least 5 minutes to ensure all processes have been stopped.
Hope this helps.!
Regards,
Satish

Re: How to halt Alletra9000 series
Hi @Satish04
I'm sorry for the late reply.
When I tried to stop the operation the other day, some additional questions came up, so I would like to confirm them.
>Run the command "shutdownsys halt" - Specifies that the system should be halted after shutdown.
Does this mean typing "yes" in response to the message that appears after executing the "shutdownsys halt" command?
Do you REALLY want to HALT this storage system? yes or no: yes
>The front panel LEDs should indicate that the system is powered off or is ready to be powered off.
Specifically, what state should the LED on the front of the controller be in to determine if it's ready to be turned off?
The Fault LED wasn't lit when I shut it down the other day.

SolutionHi hkane,
Yes, you need to type "yes" when prompted after running the "shutdownsys halt" command.
Once you confirm, the system will proceed with a graceful shutdown.
LED Behavior for Safe Power-Off:
1. If the Power LED is completely OFF, the system is fully shut down.
2. Power LED (Green) тЖТ Controllers blink slowly when they are halted, though they may still be running internal processes.
3. Fault LED (Amber) тЖТ Fault LEDs that glow amber during shutdown indicate an issue but remain off during a normal shutdown.
In general, if the Fault LED isn't lit, there are no critical problems.
According to your description, the Fault LED was not lit during shutdown, indicating a clean shutdown.
Hope this helps.!
Regards,
Satish
