Increase Virtual volume size on 3PAR with Open VMS

Dears,

i would like to increase the siize of one of our virtual volumes in 3PAR. the host operating system is Open VMS.  i would like to know how to scan the changes in OVMS and how safe is this operation.

Wow, that takes me back a decade or two! OpenVMS added Dynamic Volume Expansion back during v7.3-x. The volume needed to be initialized for future expansion. See the System Manager’s Manual, Volume 1: Essentials.

A volume could be expanded up to a limit based on its internal bitmap size and its internal cluster size. Depending on how large you need to expand, you will probably need to create a second volume and copy everything over. Review the INITIALIZE options for any subsequent expansions while you're at it.
