Need to remove PDs cleanly to create 4 Empty slots in disk cage
What is the best way to cleanly remove 4 Disks from a 3PAR8400, to create 4 empty drive slots? Those slots will be used to wipe out loose drives from a decomissioned 8400, so they can be used as spares, moving forward. We cannot upgrade the OS/Patches and can't get older replacement drives.

Re: Need to remove PDs cleanly to create 4 Empty slots in disk cage
Hello @wstoll ,
Try the below steps:
1. Run the command "showpd" to get the list of PDs and note the PD ID to be removed
2. Run the command "setpd ldalloc off <PD_ID>" to mark a PD as non allocatable for logical disks (LD)
3. Run the command "showpd -spr <PD_ID>" to display information about chunklets that are marked as spares
4. Run the command "removespare <PD_ID>" to remove chunklets from the spare chunklet list.
5. Run the command "dismisspd <PD_ID>" to remove PD definitions from system use.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Sahana
