Reestablish SSMC Connection to 3par

Hello, I'm hoping to get some assistance as I'm still rather new in my IT role and my company has had to redo all of its connections/VMs. So any previous setups to our 3par were wiped out.

We have two 3pars on two different IP addresses, I'm mostly wondering how to reset up the SSMC connection to both. I can currently putty into them.

Not sure if its related, I'm working with HPE support on why the older 3par isn't phoning home to their monitoring service but the other is, firewall rules for both are setup to be allowed through for connection. HPE support is looking into it but its been a while since I last heard from them.

If anyone has any tips or guides on to help me get familiar as we restore the setup, I would appreciate it!

Re: Reestablish SSMC Connection to 3par

Hi,

login to the SSMC Web GUI with User ssmcadmin and tick the checkbox Administrator.

Then use the Action Button and Add to add the 3par with their IP Address.

Here use the 3PAR Login, the same as you use with putty.

Re: Reestablish SSMC Connection to 3par

Thank you all for the info, however I am not able to login through the web browser gui, when using the latest version of Edge browser, it says the resource is online but ins't responding to connection, this is for both IPs on our 3par setup.

Contact the HPE support.  Remind them about the case that you have opened.

Regarding SSMC and VMs etc...

I do not know how old your configuration is. It may be using the old, windows-based service.

Do you know the version of SSMC that you have currently installed?

SSMC, orignially was an installable service on top of a windows-box. Customer´s had to have installed (and licensed) a windows system, and SSMC was then installed as a service. SSMC version 3.3, is/was the last version that run as a windows service.

Starting with SSMC version 3.4, this has changed. SSMC is now running in a VM as an appliance. This appliance has a Web-GUI along with a textual interface (TUI)  and is base on Linux. Currently the latest version is 3.8.4.

SSMC has its own IP-address(es), which is different from the IP-addresses of the 3PARs and its Service-Processors.

Login to the SSMC-appliance via GUI is done on port 8443 via  "https://<IP_address_or_DNS_name>:8443"

If you can´t login to SSMC via the Edge-browser, try to use the TUI.

Use an ssh-connection to "ssmcadmin@<IP-of-the-ssmc-appliance>". Note that "ssmcadmin" is the only available/existing user on the appliance. After the login, you should get a small text-menu with IP-address information and the version of SSMC.

I hope that helps.

To further troubleshoot this, please repy with the following information:

1. Hardware type of the 3 arrays.

2. 3PAR-OS version of the 2 arrays.

3. SSMC version

4. Service-Processor version

Re: Reestablish SSMC Connection to 3par

I am poking at support again for them to get back to me.

I'm not sure on that info, a lot of my login information isn't working and I know some things were out of data before our down time. I'm hoping support can help or maybe dispatch a 3par tech on site to assit.
