what should I do when CPG growth failure, which RawFree & LDFree value is 0 under EstFree

I have a 3PAR 8200, OS is 3.2.2.

There are 12  * 1.2TB 10k FC disks and 16 *4TB 7.2k NL disks ( 4 of them are added in the last weekend ).

There is 1 SFF cage and 1 LFF cage.

There is one FC cpg and one NL cpg. The NL cpg parameter is: NL_r5 - - 32768 -t r5 -ha mag -ssz 6 -ss 128 -ch first -p -devtype NL.

After I added 4 new NL disks in the last weekend, the "tunesys" didn't run automatically.

Today I found two alerts:

ThrType : CPG was grown with degraded parameters
Component : sw_cp:3:NL_r5
Message : CPG 3 (NL_r5) could not grow with its normal grow parameters. The following parameters were used: createald -wait 0 -cpsd NL_r5 -t r5 -ha mag -ssz 6 -ss 128 -ch first -p -devtype NL -n tp-3-sd-1 -sz 8192


Type : CPG growth failure
Component : sw_cp:3:NL_r5
Message : CPG NL_r5 SD and/or user space grow command: createald -wait 0 -cpsd NL_r5 -t r5 -ha mag -ssz 6 -ss 128 -ch first -p -devtype NL -n tp-3-sd-2 -sz 8192 Failed with: The layout for volume size 8192 MB, RAID 5, set size 6, devtype NL, availability "ha mag" requires 6 magazines connected between a nodepair but this system only has a maximum of 4 magazines connected between a nodepair.

After run "tunesys -cpg NL_r5", showtask displayed 0 tunes run.

Hi,

you can not use HA Mag, if you only have 1 Drive Enclosure.

With HA Mag you need min. 6 Drive Enclosure (Magazine = Drive Enclosure on 8200).

I think maybe you are wrong. Mag HA equals drive ha in 3par 8000.

Yes. The 'ha mag' is at drive level.

The status looks like the physical space is full.

Have you tried tunesys after some time? Are you getting the same error on every attempt?

If you are getting the same error everytime, can you please try compactcpg and then tunesys?

Are those 4 newly added NL drives admitted to the CPG already?

After watched your reminder, I re-run tunesys. Right now it is still running and it has run for 12 hours.

NL_r5 cpg LDFree is around 1TB.

I have a question, why does the "tunesys" command work suddenly?

Possibly, given the size and speed of the NL disks, it took them quite a while to get all the chunklets initialized.
