Hi,
I've been sold a 256Mbyte memory upgrade for a C110, as 2x128Mbyte units. It doesn't work, and I've now read that the C110 only supports 16Mbyte and 64Mbyte memory cards. Is this correct?
The supplier states that 128Mbyte units work, and simply weren't around when the C110 was released. Do I need to upgrade firmware? Current firmware is "1.3 3529"
Diagnostic info is below:

Re: 128Mbyte memory cards on C110?
I cant rightly answer whether 128MB DIMMS will work in the C110 or not as I have not personally seen it, however the info you report looks like there may be a bad DIMM installed. Hence the message "Memory banks deallocated due to a mismatch of SIMMs".
You could try moving the larger pair to slots 0a/0b and the smaller ones to slots 1a/1b (which is how they should be installed anyway) just to see how the error is reported. This will also force you to reseat the DIMMs which cannot be ruled out as the problem.

Solution
The C110 wasn't around when the 256MB Memory kit was released, however it will work and be supported. First, make sure the memory that you have installed is for the workstations and not servers, the memory kit part number should be A4517A and the individual boards should be part number A3830-60001 not A3398-60014. If you check these out and all of this information is correct, then chances are you have a bad DIMM, and will need to get it replaced. Also, you might want to check to make sure this memory is seated properly, which can also be a problem sometimes.
Hope this helps

Re: 128Mbyte memory cards on C110?
The memory cards were in slots 0a/0b. However, one of the cards is labelled 3830-60001 while the other is 3829-60002. My understanding now is that the latter unit is wrong for the system.
Since posting the supplier has actually offered to swap the 2x128 for 4x64, but I might now request a simple replacement of the 3829-60002 unit.
Thanks for all the help,
Mark
