857S
I have an HP 9000 857S that was dug out of an old surplus closet, However this
unit has no manuals or the such,
This is what It looks like it contains:
1) A1703-60004
2) 28606-60001
All the storage devices have been removed.
Is there enough here to hook up a consol and if so what/where do I jack in ?
Any help wopuld be greatly helpfull

Re: 857S
THe machine takes me back about 12 years. In order to connect up a console,
you must have mux board most likely 8 port. Console is always port 0. They tend
to
be 25 pin. YOu must use an originial hp console no vt100s or others. THey also
had the wierdest null modem involving pins 8 and 20
I would be very surprised if it would run a current OS/

Re: 857S
Darcy,
I agree with Terja. You will need a Mux panel and a cable connecting the Mux
panel to the ADP port on the multi-function io PCA. Then a HP Terminal can be
connected to the first port on the mux panel. However this is not going to get
you much without any disk drives to load an operating system.
