A2874-66005 SCSI card & HASS

Hello.

I need advice...

Next week, I have to reinstall a D310 machine. I want to install a HASS and a addional A2874-66005 SCSI card.

Can I leave the internal terminator open (I suppose yes)?

What driver do I need on install?

Are there docs about the controler (I don't found any)?

After installation I want to have a D310 with 3 internal disks and three in the HASS (using mirrordisk)

Thanks in advance for your tips.

Best regards.

Hi,
you may have to move the 3 Terminator-chips which are placed on your controller to the correct position.
There are two banks with 3 slots each. You have to place the 3 Termination chips in one of the banks to enable or disble the termination of the internal SCSI-Adapter (one bank is only a placeholder for chips).
The function of the banks is described on the controller itself (sorry, i don`t have to documantation also).
The HASS has to be terminated of course.
For the controller you don`t have to install an extra kerneldriver because this controller is the same that`s already in the D310 for the internal disks (driver: c720).

Hello,
this is A4107A D-class HSC FWD SCSI adapter. It has one (same) bus inside and outside. It has terminator chips holders. In your configuration when there are no inetrnal devices attached please
1. attach FWD terminator to the end of the SCSI bus (at the ending external SCSI device);
2. either: terminate internal SCSI connector on the card and move terminator chips to UC1, UC2 and UC3 holders OR remove terminator from the internal connector and move terminator chips to UD4, UE4 and UF4 holders. Please align terminator chips correctly to their holders. Note adapter's SCSI Id (default=7) coded by switch S1

Re: A2874-66005 SCSI card & HASS

The SCSI BUS has to be terminated on bothe the ends generally the first disk has a local termintor so you need to worry is about the terminator on the HASS only. Also as you ahve stated that the you plan toa mirror UX it would be worthwhile to consider that the mirroins in restricted with in an enclosure as this would lead to a better perormance and also more stablilty in terms of swithcing on/off and loose conenctions etc.

Hello Gerrit, Eugeny and Manoj.

Thanks to all for your quick answers. I read your tips well. So I will move the terminator chips. I hope it works next week.

Best regards.
