Re: Adding CPUs to a rp700
The latest PDC for your server is 43.43, patch PHSS_30724.
Regarding the memory - there are special rules.
How many carriers and DIMMs do you have?
Rule of the thumb: Put the first set of your largest modules on the first carrier, next on the second, ... continue with the next smaller modules.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Adding CPUs to a rp700
Each N4000 has 4 memory carriers and all slots are full. 8 1024 MB and 8 512 MB DIMMS. My plan is to remove all of the 512 MB DIMMS and populate all slots with 1024 MB DIMMS.

Re: Adding CPUs to a rp700
hi,
well then the memory you mentioned earlier doesnt add up to what you want? with what you have?
8x1gb 8gb
8x512mb 4gb
so you only have 12gb each server.
are you counting the 1gb's as a pair of 2x 512mb or 1x 1gb dimm, and 512mb as 2x256 or 1x 512mb as the memory has to be paired in the system.
you say all the memory carriers are full, so it would seems that you have 16x 512 and 16x256 dimms. which would fill the 32 slots for 4 carriers.
so the most you could install is 16gb using all the 1gb kits(2x512)
it might be best if you ran the info tool on the memory in stm, this will list all the dimms and carriers.

Re: Adding CPUs to a rp700
Sorry I was math challenged there are 32 DIMMS 16 x 1024 and 16 x 512 on each server.
Thanks to all this conversation has prepared me quite well for my task.
