Cannot create pipes

Help.

I have an L3000 running HPUX11

When I login or su, I get the following message

# su - test10
crt0: ERROR couldn't open /usr/lib/dld.sl errno:000000023
/etc/profile[48]: cat: not found
/etc/profile[83]: stty: not found.
/etc/profile[92]: cat: not found.
/etc/profile[105]: mail: not found.
/etc/profile[113]: news: not found.
.profile[7]: uname: not found
.profile[8]: uname: not found
Terminal ws Selected
.profile[43]: Cannot create a pipe.

I then get the following message when I issue the following command.

$ ps -ef | wc -l
su: Cannot create a pipe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Found it. We ran out of nfiles. To get out of this problem, we bumped maxusers in SAM.

Hi,

Maybe a device is malfunctioning?
Check the file /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for errors. Do a ioscan to check your devices.
