Capabilities of built-in HSC LAN NIC in D370
Hi,
this one is related to my thread

which answered me that I will have to live with the built-in NIC.
The problem is that the NIC seems to operate on 10 Mbps half duplex, which is causing too many collisions during traffic peaks.
cstm identifies the NIC as such:

I haven't even been able to find out mode settings myself since neither SAM shows them in the modify-screen, nor does lanadmin help.
Instead it croaks about unknown options.
# lanadmin -x 0
Error: This option is not supported for this hardware.
# lanadmin -s 0
Speed = 10000000
At least it shows that the NIC operates @ 10 Mbps.
The local network admin told me that the linkpartner, viz. the switch, operates in half duplex mode.
My question is whether there is a way (OS or through NIC or Streams driver) to change the operational mode for this NIC.
My installing of the cumulative LAN patch PHNE_28143 recently hasn't helped either (in prospect of fixing broken lanadmin options such as -x|-X, despite the patch's README mentioning)
# swlist -l product -l fileset -a state -a install_date PHNE_28143; who -b
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "dosse"...
#
# Target: dosse:/
#
# PHNE_28143 200405121830.51
PHNE_28143.LAN-RUN 200405121830.51 configured

Ralph,
sorry but you will have to get along with 10half... this card does not support anything else.
Guess the only thing you can do is set the switch port manually to 10HD as well, if this is an option.

Ralph,
the only alternative would be to get a J3515A (single) or J3516A (dual port 100BT HSC NIC).
However, you need a free HSC slot for that, plus the card is quite expensive, but you might try alternate sources.
