CD-drive for rp24xx

Is there any external CD-drive avialabel for the rp24xx series (it is not possible to use an internal) ?

Hello,

rp24xx has external SE connectors which can be used un order to connect any SCSI device.

Both C4310A and C4311A products contain the Toshiba XM-5701B, 12x speed SCSI-2, single ended CD-ROM mechanism.

They are delivered in a desktop (C4310A) and rack-ready version (C4311A).

The C4310A & C4311A are intended for use with any HP9000.

Sorry and review your search with these DVD devices (CD compatible):

C4314A/C4315A

They are offered in both a desktop (C4314A) and rack-ready (C4315A)version.

The C4314A is still available new from HP according to the most recent information I have. of course you also could buy such a part used.

The C4315A is for a 'SMART' enclosure - an enclosure designed to hold such things. if you have any N4000 systems around, the DVD and DDS Drives attached to it would probably be in a SMART enclosure.

The SMART enclosures and drives associated with them are not available new any longer, but they are available remarketed or used. If you don't need a permanent solution I would recommend getting a C4314A from the used market. Note that the C4314A has a 50-pin HD connector on the back.
