I am trying to login into Console of one of the HP-UX server but I think it is in Edit Mode as I am not getting the login prompt after ^Ecf and it is getting hanged. Please provide me the switch to use to get out from Edit Mode.

Re: Console Problem
Then use ps(1) to see what the console user is doing.

Re: Console Problem
Console "hangs" what does you /var/adm/syslog.syslog --> show's ..?
was there any firmware -upgrade done recently..?
Question:-
Are you connecting the Console "ip" like remote Console .?
if yes , please check with your Network Team support & request for "RESET" switch settings,
Thanks,
Johnson

Re: Console Problem
First check your /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log is there any error messages are there ?
Second if you have physically access the server then try to login through console cable then check?

Re: Console Problem
From Menu go to the cm command
and check a command used to reset the MP console only.
Please be sure while using this command .
SOmetimes you might accidently reset the server.
Also cm command also check if any one is still logged in to the console

Re: Console Problem
Thanks for all your help. The MP for that was crashed and needs to be replaced so we logged a CASE with HP for the same, that's why the console was not accessible.

Re: Console Problem
Check your syslog where your console is.
Example:
Console is on a Serial Device
System Console is on the Built-In Serial Interface
...
What server do you have?
If a server is configured to have the VGA as the console, this is what you get after running
MP> co
==> nothing, because console is on VGA.
Check this!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Console Problem
Did you reset your MP or GSP if not reset once and then try.
>cm-->xd to reset the console or you can reset by pressing the button in MP Card.

Thanks for sharing that thread.
Thanks to Torsten and Suraj too.
