Re: CPU temperature check

The first thing to check is overall Power management module status & that is done thru Console .. CTRL+B then GSP> PS .

Re: CPU temperature check

Have you EMS (Event Monitoring Service) installed, I think you should take a look at ems.
But I don't think it not possible to get the CPU temperature value. because the machine such as L-class has an analog temperature probe and only sends interrupts when certain thresholds are reached.

Re: CPU temperature check

Take a look on the site preperation guide of the rp7400 servers on
http://docs.hp.com

There you will find lots of info on the heat generated by the servers the air temprature and the power of the airconditioning, as well as the way your servers should be positioned...

Re: CPU temperature check

Hi,
the EMS send a message in the syslog if the temperature has exceeed the limit but i don't think that you can monitoring it.

Re: CPU temperature check

1)unfortunatelly there is no such command
as prtdiag in Sun Solaris that shows exact
temperature for certain CPU
2)On most new 9000 servers you have a special
sensor card that monitors inlet/outlet air temperatures. Its not EMS that reports on OVERTEMP conditions but envd daemon (man envd)
Usually OVERTEMP are of 3 kinds:
1)critical - warns via syslog
2)emergency - usually reboots/shutdowns
3)power lost - power downs

More information in envd man page.
EMS though monitors Power Supplies and Fans.

P.S I wish HP would put on development list
Asus-like utility for board Voltage values and
temperatures.
