DLT8000 drive and K-Class Servers

I've got a DLT8000 drive I need to connect to my K200. I currently have my core I/O and HP-PB 16 bit scsi ports free.

The DLT8000 has and LVD/SE 68 pin connection. When I connect it to either port on the server, the server fails to boot. Is it possible to install this DLT and if so how?

Thanks,
Larry

Hello,

It is possible only if you buy an LVD-to-HVD converter. You K200's port is HVD, and each and every card you can buy for it is HVD as well. So you definetely need a converter.

Here is an example of one:

Re: DLT8000 drive and K-Class Servers

Hello -

Do you happen to have the part number for your HP-PB 16-bit SCSI port(s)?

It's also quite possible for you to install the DLT drive internally (this is what I had to do), using a 68-pin to 50-pin SE connector, and removing the CD-ROM drive. This worked wonderfully.

You can also connect it to a single-ended 50-pin external SCSI port, using an adapter, but the performance on the drive will suffer a bit.

Re: DLT8000 drive and K-Class Servers

Attention:
As far as I know the only external SE SCSI interface you can buy for the K-Class is HP-PB, where you need to use the tape2 driver instead of stape. The tape2 does not support DLT8000 (and indeed does not work)... so this is not an option.
