Entry Level HP Series performance comparison
Can anyone tell me where I could get graphical/tabular comparison of performance across the Entry Level UNIX servers. (i.e. A-Series, D-Series and K-Series) I need a comparison method to show the differences between the servers.
Any help you could give me would be appreciated.

Re: Entry Level HP Series performance comparison
There is no single source that I can find publically available. Here are a couple of web sites you can dig through. Start here:
http://us-support.external.hp.com/iv/bin/doc.pl/sid=300c48a11a5e4b56a9/screen=ivHome
Go to Hardware and Servers and you may find some of the information you are looking for.
There is some more information here:
http://www.unixservers.hp.com/index.html
Actually there is a HP Internal document that has most of this information. I saw it on my ASE's laptop. He told me he could not give me a copy though. If they were more forthcoming with information I might be inclined to buy more equipment. They just keep shooting themselves in the foot.

Re: Entry Level HP Series performance comparison
Hi,
Basically the line is:
A180 (2800 TPM); A400 (7125); R/D380 (9300); A500 (15200); L1000 (15500); L2000 (22400); L3000 (guess = 30,000) K580 (25000); N4000 (60000) V2500 (100,000); SuperDome (160,000 - 200,000)
The TPMs are approximate and using the best and most processors available for that model. I wouldn't consider the D/R/K/V servers, they're all previous generation servers and have relatively high maintenance costs.
You should ask HP or your reseller to come in and present to you - Pre-Sales is normally free.
Hope this helps, Paul
