The L-series (as with most servers) is hardly ever used with a video card. The serial port should have a 3-headed cable attached to it with 3 9-pin connectors. Connect your PC using a crossover cable (probably the error you had before), also known as a null-modem cable. You won't see anything using a straight through cable as transmit and receive are going to the wrong pins.
Set the terminal emulator to 9600 baud, 8n1. Type CTRL-B to get a GSP prompt from the L-series. You can then reboot using the RESET command, then interrupt the boot process to enter single user mode.

Hi,
Video is not realy needed.
Telnet to your GSP.
If you get GSP port
tape CO
My be you can get shell prompt !
If not , reboot system.
After self test stop booting.
Press any key until 10 seconds.
in PDC prompt write down:
PDC>bo pri
and
Interact with ISL: Y
In ISL prompt:
ISL> hpux -is
HPUX will boot in single user mod with no password.
Just change root password
# passwd root
and reboot
If you have C2. you are lost :)
Ask for help some HPUX SSE
Ot write me :)

Hi,
I would like to thank everyone for helping me. My null modem cable was bad, as soon I replaced that with a known good cable I was able to telnet and interupt the boot and re-install the OS.
