HP-HIL

What is the HP-HIL ID module?

What else is there for HP-HIL and what do they do?

Re: HP-HIL

Hi David:

Wow, this one takes me back. HIL is HP's Human Interface Link. It is pretty much obsolete these days but you could attach a keyboard, mouse, trackball, tablet, and an id module to HIL.
The 'id module' is HP's equivalent to a 'dongle'; a software manufacturer could encode a software key with the module which the application software had to access and match.

Re: HP-HIL

Is that the only thing the ID module is for?

I've heard something about audio too?

What about other things? Like what is the dials? (I think it was a box with three dials on it)

Re: HP-HIL

David, I'm positive that that was the only function of an HIL Id Module. They were almost always used to secure CAD/CAM packages many moons ago. I don't recall seeing any HIL audio drivers.
