HP98786A Monitor Replacemet
I have a failing 98786A Monochrome monitor on a HP9000.
The card, in the 9000, thats driving the monitor is HP98572-66512(68030).
I know, I know ... old stuff.
What little info I find on the web about the timing for this monitor I found at http://historia.et.tudelft.nl/~marcj/fixed_freq/
I cant find a used 98786A anywhere.
I ordered a 98785A from a company that sells old HP stuff and found that it didnt work.
The 98785A is a RGB input so I figured I could just connect to the green input(sync is typically on green). I was going to use this "Green Screen" until I fixed my 98786A.
I have a programable video generator here so I tweeked timing waveforms until I was able to get the 98785A to sync up.
What I found is that the timing info at the above link isnt correct for the 98785A.
When I connect my 98786A up to the video gen it has the same symptom as on the HP 9000.
Soooo, my questions are as follows:
1) Does anyone know what the timing info is for the 98786A?
2) Does anyone know what the output timing info is for my HP98572-66512.
3) Can anybody recommend a video card/monitor combination for my 9000. I have one slot left in the top of my expansion chassis. However, I'm not sure a video card will work in that slot.
Thanks in advance.
Tony

Re: HP98786A Monitor Replacemet
I can't answer the technical questions, but you should be able to get a used monitor rather inexpensively from any one of the major 3rd party refurbishers.
