installing APC Powerchute software
I am trying to install the Smart-UPS software (APC Powerchute) on a RP5470 server running HP 11i. How do you determine the port/device name for the UPS? How do you edit the /etc/inittab file (format)? Can this be done through SAM? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Re: installing APC Powerchute software
You can see what you need to see through sam.
Generally these devices connect via a serial port.
The software install should update /etc/inittab to make sure the ups_mond daemon is running.

Re: installing APC Powerchute software
The path of the UPS is 0/0/4/0.2. The device name is /dev/tty0p1.
ioscan -fnk | more
There is no UPS class within ioscan so it should listed as a mux port or as a part of the console and on the same path as the console.

Re: installing APC Powerchute software
You say you have a Smart-UPS, if it's connected to your network, configuration is fairly simmple. You just install, and configure, the java client on each server.
An installation guide is available on the CD-ROM that should have come with the network card.
If you don't have the network card, I highly recommend getting it! Makes life much easier...
