ioscan -fnC detected Clariion DL DEV and made the previous vdrive's pathes change
I added a new Drive to HP-UX machine When I tried ioscan command. Below is the out put we got.
ioscan -fnkCtape
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===========================================================================
tape 0 0/1/1/1.126.9.255.14.15.0 stape CLAIMED DEVICE IBM ULTRIUM-TD2
/dev/rmt/0m /dev/rmt/c14t15d0BEST
/dev/rmt/0mb /dev/rmt/c14t15d0BESTb
/dev/rmt/0mn /dev/rmt/c14t15d0BESTn
/dev/rmt/0mnb /dev/rmt/c14t15d0BESTnb
0/1/1/1.126.9.255.14.15.0 is a existed drive's drive path.
After the new drive added, it changed like following and Clariion DL DEV replaced its previous path.
tape 0 0/1/1/1.126.9.239.0.0.0 stape CLAIMED DEVICE IBM ULTRIUM-TD2
/dev/rmt/c18t0d0BEST /dev/rmt/c18t0d0BESTn
/dev/rmt/c18t0d0BESTb /dev/rmt/c18t0d0BESTnb
ctl 19 0/1/1/1.126.9.255.14.15.0 sctl CLAIMED DEVICE EMC¿CLARiiON DL DEV
/dev/lgto/c14t15d0 /dev/rscsi/c14t15d0
I would like to know what does this Class CTL means. Why is it showing me EMC¿CLARiiON DL DEV. What does this means?

Re: ioscan -fnC detected Clariion DL DEV and made the previous vdrive's pathes change
hi,
I believe you have IBM LTO loader connected via fibre channel san environment.
Adding one more device in san switch which has the same lun ID would result your new emc storage controller took over /1/1/1.126.9.255.14.15.0 path and ur existing LTO would have diff path.
Check LUN ID on both iBM LTO loader and EMC and compare and let us know.

Re: ioscan -fnC detected Clariion DL DEV and made the previous vdrive's pathes change
Hi
Class is type of HW. I.e., fc for fibre channel adaptor, processor for cpu, disk, etc. CTL seems to be unique to clarion initiator tape unit. So you are directly attached to the tape drive initiator on the EMC Clariion.
