Re: K Class server
K-Class HP9000 is out of production.
But it is still supported from HP.
What model it is? Generally written in
side the front door.

Re: K Class server
The first thing I wouild check out is the 64 bit compatibility of this K class. As a basic rule, anything wiht the last 2 digits higher than 50 (K460, K570) is 64-bit capable.
The most annoying thing about K Classes is that they can take an age (up to 30 mins) to boot when you have a lot of CPUs and memory.
Cheers, Ian Dennison

Re: K Class server
The K's could have up to 6 cpu's, only 240Mhz max each (new rp servers 440-750Mhz now), 4Gb of RAM, and lots of IO slots. Thats about it.

Re: K Class server
HP still support them but I expect that maintenance cover will be considerably more expensive than one of the new ones.
N.B. Ian, try setting the FASTBOOT option to ON at the bootmenu, it stops testing memory and speeds up reboots a lot.

John

Re: K Class server
Actually you have several 9000 servers:
A class, L class N class, SuperDome.
Well, these are yesterday's names. Today they are RP5400, RP7xxx, RP8xxx...
I think all classes support actual PA-RISC or Itanium processors.
It depends on your requiments.
