Hi,
Mux is for serial port where u can connect modem ,dump terminal etc.
trancever is a converter from thicknet to thinnet(co-axial cable)
Did you take a backup?

MUX is serial port multplier for connecting modem,terminals etc. And Tranceiver is used to convert Thick Net to Thin net Co - axial

Tranceiver is connected to the AUI port on one end and the other end may be either thicknet coax, thin-net coax, or 10baseT ethernet.
