N4000 CPU addition
Hi,
We like to add additional cpu's to N4000-75 system taking CPUs from N4000-55 system.
Is it possible can mix n match cpu with different speed?
N4000-55
CPU Version: PA 8600 CPU Module 3.1
Clock Frequency: 550 MHz
N4000-75
CPU Version: PA 8700 CPU Module 2.3
Clock Frequency: 750 MHz
Thanks.

Re: N4000 CPU addition
You can not mix n match CPU on the these server.. They are set to a certain speed using the DIP switch settings on the systemboard.

Re: N4000 CPU addition
Also, please be aware of the system board you have installed in the server. You cannot put 750mhz cpu's onto a Rev A or Rev B system board, so hopefully you may already have a Rev C which will take 550/650/750 MHz.

Re: N4000 CPU addition
hi,
on top of what you have already been reliably informed of. You also need to upgrade the Processor Support Modules aswell.
They are different for the PA85/600 and PA8700 cpu's.
but do not attempt to mix them. Also the system board switches will need changing to reflect the higher cpu's. But first check if you actually have a system that can take the cpu's
