Re: N4000 incompatible processor

Hello,

Check to see whether the dip switches S1 on the mainboard are correctly set. For the 440MHz and revision B mainboard, it should be like this:

1 on
2 off
3 off
4 on
5 on
6 off
7 off
8 off

HTH,

Re: N4000 incompatible processor

Since your model number is A3639BR, it is a remanufactured/refurbished unit. If it was not done by HP, the company may have retrofitted a processor from the L-Class into the chassis. Although this can be made to work, it is not officially supported by HP, and some odd problems have shown up in the past. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find them on the forums anymore. If you exhaust all other possibilities, you should have HP come in and check out your hardware for this particular situation.

The DIP switches listed above are a very good bet for being the culprit.
