new CPUs

Hi!..
Buy 2 new processors for a server L2000,
my question is, if when installing them I need to reinstall the operating system
or alone recompilar the kernel?..

I have HP-UX 11.00!.

Greetings!.

Re: new CPUs

Hi Rafael,

No, you shouldn't have to do a thing with the OS nor the kernel.

But I seem to remember that there are support modules (for power? memory?) that have to go along with some CPU upgrades in Ls & Ns. Check with your HP Rep to verify you have all you need HW-wise for the upgrade.

Rgds,

Re: new CPUs

Jeff is correct... if you are taking your system from a 1-2 CPU model to 3-4, there is a good chance that you also need a second "processor support module" (I have a Dec 2001 catalog with part A5796A)

You should also verify that installing your own CPUs does not violate any support agreements you may have. I have heard that the CPU is one of the few parts where customer installation is not always OK
