Omniback 3.5/EVA

Hi:

Someone knows if the release 3.5 of Omniback supports the Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) attached to a rp7405??

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Can you explain what kind of support you wonder about. Ordinary data should not be any problem.

Re: Omniback 3.5/EVA

Hi Leif:

In the attached diagram you can see that the EVA is conected to rp7405 server, and mi cuestion is if the Omniback 3.5 can backup and restore the information stored in the EVA.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Omniback 3.5/EVA

As Leif said, it should not be a problem. OmniBack doesn't necessarily care what kind of array you have as long as it is set up so that LVOLs are mounted and you can see the files on the array.

You should be fine!

Re: Omniback 3.5/EVA

Hi,
Sorry, it seems to be problem with the attached file, I could not open it. But as I wrote earlier (and Patric agree with) ordinary data (for example filesystems or Oracle databases) should not be any problem. The reason for my question was if you plan to use special functions (as "split mirror" or "busnies copy" or what it can be named on a EVA array). In this case there is perhaps not direct support.

Re: Omniback 3.5/EVA

When using the "Split Mirror" backup with OB II, seperate licenses are needed. The licenses available are for XP and Virtual Arrays. With OB II, I do not believe we will see support for this functionality on an EVA. However, this will most likely be supported with the Data Protector 5.x product. Call your Openview Reseller for more information or (877) OV-OWNER.
