PSU Proliant 8000 changing psu while still on

Greetings.

I am planning on replacing a faulty psu in a compaq proliant 8000. There is also a faulty hard drive in the cage that was probably caused by the fault in the power. Do i need to switch off or does it make no difference to the system if i hot swap it. thanks.
