Re: replace the root disk to new high capacity disk
Hi Aneez,
No what you want to do isnt possible due to the max pe value created when the system was built, unless of course this was taken into consideration at that time?
The best option would be to do an ignite recovery tape and then you can re build onto a bigger disk, but theres quite a lot of work involved as im sure youre aware.

Re: replace the root disk to new high capacity disk
As suggested above use use Ignite/UX.
download the latest version.
# make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00
Replace the disks and install from the IUX tape.
The existing data volume groups should be imported at the end of the install.

Re: replace the root disk to new high capacity disk
Yes, you can mirror to the larger disk
BUT, you will most likely not be able to use all of the space on the new disk.
The maximulm usable space on a disk disk is set at VG creation time, and miost people accept the defaults for vg00. That most likely means that usable space on the larger disk is going to be limited to the size of the original vg00 disk size.
You will need to make an ignite image of vg00, and recover vg00 to the new disk. This will allow you to change the parameters on vg00 to recognize and use all of the space on the new disk
