replacing or interfacing to cron thru a graphical interface
is there a tool, third party or HP, that interfaces to cron
that is easier to use (i.e point and click) or just plain replaces what cron does?

Re: replacing or interfacing to cron thru a graphical interface
Hi,
Have a look at http://www.webmin.com/webmin/
Webmin is free software which give you a web interface to admin your server.
Regards,
Patrice.

Re: replacing or interfacing to cron thru a graphical interface
I did review that web site and it seems a bit over kill just to give my operations group an gui interface to cron; I have heard of something called scheduler that runs on hpux-10.20 but haven't been able to locate it ; anyway thanks for the response but unfortunately it didn't really address my particular problem.

Re: replacing or interfacing to cron thru a graphical interface
gcrontab located at http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Sysadmin/gcrontab-0.6.6 might be more suitable. I have not used it, so I can't vouch for it, but it has been directly ported to HPUX 10.20 and 11.0.
You might want to take another look at webmin though. It is an excellent package and handles a lot of stuff that SAM does not. It is particularly nice at setting up services that many of us do not use day in and day out. Stuff like Samba, sendmail, DNS/bind, etc.
