rp5470 upgrade

Hi all,

We have an rp5470 server with a 700MHz Processor. Is it possib to upgrade our processor from 700MHz to lets say 1GHz?

Thanks,

Karl

Re: rp5470 upgrade

Hi,Karl

I think that it's not possible because of hardware limitation so you can upgrade up to 875MHZ(PA8700) processor in your system.

for more detailed informations, contact your representative or local HP's sale.

Easy going at all.

Re: rp5470 upgrade

Hi,

rp5470 is about of end of life. You can upgrade the server to max PA8700 875MHz, but it is costly operation.

If you need faster processors, consider a new server. There are two models to consider:
HP 9000 rp34x0 (max 4 PA8800 1GHz CPUs) and HP 9000 rp4440 (max 8 PA8800 1GHz CPUs).
You can start with rp3410 with one or two 800MHz CPUs. This is very cheap solution (800MHz CPUs have only 5-10% less performance in comparing to 1GHz CPUs).

Re: rp5470 upgrade

Hi Karl,

There is no 700 MHz processor. There's a 750 MHz PA8700 & then the 875 MHz PA8700+ CPU.
That's the fastest until the PA8800 which are now at 1GHz, I believe. But those are not supported by the rp5470 - 875 is the fastest for that system.

Jeff

Re: rp5470 upgrade

You have to be at 11.11 to use the 875MHz processors or the new systems with 1 GHz pa-8800 CPUs. I presume you have all 4 CPUs presently. Speeds of CPUs for the rp5470 were 550, 650, 750 and 875MHz. Also, make sure you are limited by CPU performance an not memory or I/O.
