rp7410 = what `model`

new on HP hardware... I chanced upon a command - `model` on a supposedly N-Class box, the result is 9000/800/N4000-65 .. is this an rp7410?

Is there a link that maps "model" to Server models .. ie. rp7410, rp8400?

Graci!

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

Nelson,

The 65 refers to the processor speed and, if I recall correctly, that makes this a "rp" box because it's referring to a 650MHz CPU.

Thanks.

But is this a rp7410?

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

My rp7410 returns the following from model:

9000/800/rp7410

However, my older rp5410 returns this:

9000/800/L2000-44

So at some point the model designations caught-up with the new marketing names. My 7410 we installed this past March; the pr5400 was purchased in Dec of 2001.

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

I doubt that this is a rp7410. It sounds more like it may be a rp7400.

I could be wrong though.

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

I would say it's a rp7405 server and the processor speed is 650MHz. rp7405 is a cost effective server version of rp7410.

It's not a rp7400 since rp7400 does not come with a 650 MHz processor.

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

This is from Michael Tully:

rp2400 - Model string 9000/800/A400-6X (A400)
rp2450 - Model String 9000/800/A500-6X or 7X (A500)
rp5400 - Model String 9000/800/L1000 (L1000)
rp5430 - Model String 9000/800/L1500-7X or 8X (L1500)
rp5450 - Model String 9000/800/L2000 (L2000)
rp5470 - Model String 9000/800/L3000-7X or 8X (L3000)
rp7400 - Model String 9000/800/N4000-7X or 8X (N4000)
rp8400 - Model String 9000/800/S16K-A

Hope this help.

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

This what used to be called a N-class system, and is now known as an rp7400, NOT an rp7405 or 7410.

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

Melvyn is correct:

"This what used to be called a N4000 or N-class system, and is now known as an rp7400, NOT an rp7405 or 7410. "

The 7400 is the standard 8 x way N Class or RP7400 - the RP7405 & the RP7410 are cell based systems that support NPAR partitioning as per the RP8400 & Superdome.

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

N4000-65 is a 650MHz PA8700 CPU, rp7400 (NOT rp7410)

The two machines are, performance wise very similar, but rp7410 can support nPars (hardware partitioning/cells), whereas rp7400 does not. Also rp7400 can run HP-UX 11.0 & 11i and rp7410 can only run HP-UX 11i

Re: rp7410 = what `model`

Hi Nelson,

Easiest way to tell the difference between rp7400s & the cell-based rp7405/rp7410 is the location of the internal drives. The 7405/7410 have 4 bays on the *front* of the unit, whereas the rp7400s have only 2 & there on the back, like the N-class. Also the 7405/7410 have internal DVD bay on the front as well. The N-class/rp7400s don't have a DVD bay at all.

HTH,
Jeff
