For serial console access to HPUX servers I used standard HP serial console cable (HP Part Number 5184-1894) from my laptop. However my new HP laptop doesn't have DB9 serial port any more, only USB ports.
I have tried one USB-serial adapter from electronics store to no avail. Apparently it is targeted to PDA users only. Does anyone know of USB-serial product on the market proven to work with HP consoles?

Solution
I have an old HP 9000/715/100XC workstation configured as a headless "test box". To access its console through a serial port, I use an Aten UC-232A USB->serial adapter with a standard null-modem cable.
Works fine.
It can be used with Linux too: the driver module is included in the modern Linux kernels. It is named "pl2303" and the device appears as /dev/ttyUSB0. It can be used just like a real serial port.

Re: USB Console Cable
I don't know if standard null modem cable has same pin layout as HP serial console cable (HP Part Number 5184-1894). Also, if newer systems' console has same layout as on older systems you used. If both answers are yes, this solution should work.

Re: USB Console Cable
Matti, thanks for the advice. I got Aten USB-serial cable and it worked fine with my regular serial console cable on several Integrity servers!
