10Gb SFP+ J9283B not working with J9729A 2920 48Port

So bought a 48Port 2920 J9729A 

bought a 10Gb SFP+ J9283B

says on the HP website that they are compatible

However get a 00536 FFI: port 45 Transceiver type not supported in this
port.

seems to work fine in my 2530's

Updated firmware thinking this might assist ? have I got a lower model 2920 ??

Is the HPE X242 10G SFP+ to SFP+ 3m Direct Attach Copper Cable (J9283B) connected to one SFP+ ports of the Aruba 2920 2-port 10GbE SFP+ Module (J9731A) installed in the Expansion Slot?

The Aruba 2920 48G POE+ Switch (J9729A) (like the whole Aruba 2920 Switch Series) requires at least one J9731A Module installed in one of two Expansion Slots available on the back of the Switch to accept the J9283B DAC cable (that is also valid for J9281B and J9285B DAC cables).

The 10G SFP+ DAC cable doesn't work if connected into one of the front (non 10G) SFP slots (Dual Personality ports 45, 46, 47 and 48).

That is a requirement as per this guide and it is also stated on the Aruba 2920 Switch Series QuickSpecs.

Once those Hardware requirements are finally fulfilled try again with a:

<config> show tech transceivers

and you should be OK.

Edit: The Aruba 2530 model you successfully tested with that 10G SFP+ DAC cable is probably a model that has SFP+ slots (J9853A, J9854A, J9855A and J9856A).

It's not clear yet what 3rd Party Transceivers and DACs will be included...but this post (Upcoming ArubaOS-Switch release to enable use of third-party transceivers and DACS)...can be really interesting. Upcoming means starting with 16.02.

 having the same situation. strange that my old J9283B SPF+ Direct Attach is working but my new one J9283B-61201 10g SPF+ is not. why?
