Hi,
I have just received delivery of two new HP 2510-24 switches and given them an IP address and enabled Spanning Tree.
When I ping the switches I'm getting the following responses.
Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=64
Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=6ms TTL=64
Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64
I have changed all network cables and upgraded the firmware to Q.11.57. There are no other devices connected. All other switches are ping at 1 ms or <1ms. These are 3400cl's and 2810's and 2650's.
Does anyone have any idea why I'm receiving these ping responses from the 2510.
Thanks

SolutionHi
There's nothing strange, or alarming. Here's a document concerning erratic ping times:

Re: 2510-24 erratic ping response
That said, there is usually not a huge variation in ping times in a non-congested network. Here's a graph of ping times from my management server to my 3400cl on the same VLAN:
