2510-48 : Sometimes Network stops working completely, all LED permanently green
Hello Community,
wie have a serious problem with two of our HP ProCurve 2510G-48 switches .
Both switches are connected together trough cat 5e cable.
From time to time we recogniced that both switches stop working and all LED are permanently green for about 30 to 60 seconds. The duration of this is variable.
In this time clients connected to the both switches can't reach each other. Pings are timing out 100% .
This happens very different: some days we dont recogniced any problem like this, but on other days this happens each 15 min for example.
After 30-60 seconds the switches are going back to normal working mode by itsself.
We did looked in the logs of both switches but there are no entrys about those events.
Can someone explain this? Did anyone also had this problem?
greets tom

I believe this case is related to LOOP L2. Do you have STP enabled on these switches?

Re: 2510-48 : Sometimes Network stops working completely, all LED permanently green
You should enable:
Spanning-tree: will detect if somebody patches one of your switches into one of your switches
Loop protect: will detect is somebody creates a loop on a remote unmanaged switch
BPDU Protect: if somebody patches a managed switch will prevent that switch from changing your STP topology
Almost certainly one of the first two will solve your issue.
I don't know if the 2510 supports any kind of rate-limiting or storm control on ingress ports, but read the manual and see if it mentions this.
